I've probably been mentioning this 10 times but I personally find this a really interesting topic to experiment with, so I decided to share some weird thoughts I've been curious about very recently...
So we all know that GD has a bad tendency to have really bad latency, and we'd usually mention poor game optimization, however I remember that back when GDPS were somewhat relevant, I played on 1.9, 2.0 and 2.1 versions, and... surprisingly the input lag was significantly lower. So my question is... could the servers be a big reason why the game is so unresponsive? Maybe it's not the game's optimization, but instead the servers being overloaded and forcing the game to load too much data... or whatever it may be, I'm not a programmer.
Anyone remembers when people were saying that input lag is slightly lower when you're playing a level on a saved copy? From my experience, I think it might be partially true, as I felt like my game was slightly more responsive on copyables.
So now the cosmic brain part - what if... a player would save a level and then disconnect themselves from the internet, and then play a level that has already been downloaded from the servers? Would that lower the latency due to less data being constantly loaded and stored in the game? Who knows.
This might be either a genius or utterly stupid experiment, but if you're interested, you can mess around with it. I might try that someday for fun, but who knows, maybe I'm just overcomplicating it.

This is probably the reason why the servers suck so much. I think I'll mess around with it on my phone if possible, since I don't have a copy of the game on my laptop.

Probably true. I too sometimes turn disconnect my tab from internet to reduce latency.

Idk but sometimes when my phone is connected to internet lags more than when disconnected. I dont really know the reason though

From my experience, I think it might be partially true, as I felt like my game was slightly more responsive on copyables. This is not TRUE. The input lag won't do anything on copyables or saved levels. It's a placebo effect. The Frametiming barely makes a difference imgur.com/FScGN1I (Copyable) imgur.com/u4LkPly (Saved level) Both has perfect consistent frametiming of 16.6ms. Which is 60fps. The only way to improve your input lag is getting more fps/hz.
