This is a rather weird and specific question but I’m quite curious. It was a relevant level for when it was released (and still is now). But there are really conflicting thoughts on the level. Most of the time, whenever someone goes to Discord and talks about xo, they say it sucks and the gameplay is unique but bad unique and the deco is garbage, and how it’s only rated because KrmaL made it. But there are some gamers like myself to an extent that like it, for a reason. I’d like to know how you feel about said level. I personally like it as I have said, but I can’t really explain why I do. I guess I just find it charming, if that’s the word. There’s a bunch of problems but most of the time I don’t mind that much, it’s just cool man

It has its charm but that's about it for me. It has a few cool effects despite its limitations, however apart from that it feels like a layout for me.

Not much. It has no deco, bad song. It probably gains attention only for it's high difficulty.

I think the KrmaL thing was true for a while, but now he's become a scapegoat for bad deco levels. Whenever you see a level with default block deco everyone immediately compares it to Conical Depression or something like that.
Aleph-0 has the same standard of decoration but you never see ANYONE complaining about it being rated, in fact, it was nominated for the GD 2.1 Awards show.

Most people like Aleph cause it has interesting effects, which xo simply doesn’t. I couldn’t see this level being decorated honestly, it looks best as a layout imo. However it still isn’t good by any means honestly. So I am in the middle tbf. All in all, xo can’t be compared to Aleph cause that would be like comparing Totally Legit Level to Super Probably level (deco wise ofc).

Unpopular opinion: xo deserves a rate. Not a feature obv, but it has really creative gameplay and there are a lot of stuff and effects done. Also it has really good sync, which is something that should also count.

im in love with the concept as if the level's just how he imagined it to be cause if the level had deco i wont know if its good huh well tell me how the deco is supposed to be added

It's good if you recognize it as a layout, but it isn't rate material. The rate was biased and it didn't actually deserve it, it's perfectly fine as that unrated demon that some people play, like Mujigae.

I enjoy the fact that I can see what I'm doing when I play the level. A lot of the harder demons these days are highly decorated and have a different portal every 0.5 seconds which can be a little overbearing and make the gameplay require a lot more intense focus since you're changing what you're doing all the time.
xo is completely different from this, and it actually feels like a true test of skill, as you can very clearly see everything you have to do, there are clearly defined sections and everything flows really well. Honestly, I feel pretty relaxed when playing xo, as opposed to most extremes these days where I have to focus intensely to know what to do. A part of this might also be beacuse the highest speed xo contains is 2x, and it's also doesnt constantly change speeds.
I think a level like xo has it's place as an rated extreme demon in geometry dash. It provides more of a raw skill check than most levels, and the gameplay and sync is really well done. Even though some people might call it a layout level I think it does enough to differentiate itself from the pack. The decoration may be simplistic, but I think it's important that there are some levels out there with minimalistic decoration for diversity's sake, and so that people can run levels without needing a god tier PC.
Obviously creators are gonna be mad about it because they put way more effort into their 300,000 object spam lag fiesta with buggy gameplay and this "garbage" gets rated but their level doesn't. xo, even though simple brings a high level of polish to the table and I think that's an undervalued aspect of levels.
Overall, I think xo is genuinely a good level and has many elements which make it more appealing to me than a lot of other featured levels, and unique in the modern era. So yeah. It's pretty good I think.

i'm somewhat split with this level, from 0-32 i really dislike how only the blocks pulse and not the slopes, it just looks messy to me. the gameplay is fine but its the unusual yet interesting gameplay you'd expect from krmal, the other pulses and deco fits nicely to the song though, and makes use of the vocals and guitar chords to respectively match the pulses and gameplay.
at 33-41 while i LOVE this idea of gameplay he really made it far too empty, i feel like making a trail of some sort appear infront of the player until the click would make the part be yknow, not just black lol.
42-62 for me again suffers from a lack of something to spice it up, i just feel like it needs and effect or something in the background to compensate for the 1.0 style.
from 63-80 is the BEST part of this level and my god do i love it, the pulses feel right, the little waving block effect in the background ties everything together perfectly and imo serves as what i wanted some of the earlier parts to look like, having everything pulsing and some effect to fill holes in the level, leading on from this is 81-90 where krmal did a much better job at making the dark part more interesting as the background complements the XO spotlight perfectly.
the end is just tying the level together for the song which is fine so i have no quarrels with it apart from i think using slopes for the text was kinda silly but heyo not a biggie.
overall its an alright level, gameplay wise it fits the song and does everything right in terms of that, just that i wished the deco in some of the earlier parts had implemented more while still holding true to the 1.0 style, i also kinda wish he'd have chilled with the XO's a bit, they're everywhere and it gets kinda samey throughout, but overall not bad yknow? it's something out of the ordinary for your run of the mill extreme demon.
also krmal buddy you missed a big chance for a good joke, you said you'd do a extreme demon with a 50% chance to die at the end right? should've done it with XO with the X representing 50% chance to fail and O representing 50% chance to win ;P
