herobrine279Level Name: Reverb Full Level ID: 58377486 Level Author: GDZealous Reviewer's Note: It is very late for me at the time of me writing this, so there may be typos and other grammatical errors throughout. GameplayThe gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. There's a lot of skips that can be done with pretty minimal effort, which shows an overall lack of playtesting when designing this. The biggest one I've come across is that you can skip the cube portal with the wave at the drop and go through the next section as a single player rather than a dual. There's bound to be more though, as there are several other skips throughout as well. There's also a few bugs throughout too, adding to this as well. One such bug that I noticed is that you can fly too low in the pre-drop ship and die, which is just unfair to the player, as they're dying to something that's not their fault. Several of the slopes in the wave parts are backwards as well, giving them very weird hitboxes that make certain parts much harder than they need to be, which is not very fair to the player. With all the glitchier stuff out of the way, let's talk about the core of the gameplay itself. In general, it's just kinda linear and boring. The early parts like any dynamic movement, with you being at the same level on the screen for most of the level, which leads to a less interesting experience. The gameplay is quite inconsistent, with some parts being absolutely free and other parts being very easy to die at, especially that last spider. The 4x waves are also pretty hard, which doesn't quite go with the rest. There's also a lot of invisible auto parts used to replace actual gameplay. These are fine in brief moderation, as these types of auto parts should only last a second or two at most in order to keep the flow of the gameplay consistent with the rest of the level. Overall, the gameplay could be a lot better. DesignThe design is also not very interesting. First I'll start with the colors. They're practically the same the whole time, with very little variation at all. This makes the design rather boring and uninteresting to look at without color variation unless you're specifically aiming to have a sort of themed level that follows one color scheme (such as Black Blizzard). The colors also just, aren't very good. They don't really flow well together, and the contrast between them is very clear, but not really in a good way. They don't really blend together, rather they just exist in the same level independent of each other, resulting in a lack of design flow. The block designs are either non-existent or very minimal. There's a few hints of block design throughout, but for the most part it's just the standard building bases, with some variation between them. The blocks in the first tab can make for a good base, but unless you're designing something like Woogi which has a lot of structures (which this level doesn't), then these blocks should have some extra layers to them in order to make them stick out, rather than just exist. There's not a lot of air deco either, and when there is, it's very minimal, with only a few arrows or similar. The backgrounds are also fairly uninteresting and choppy. The way backgrounds move should be more fluid and natural. They shouldn't start moving after they've been on the screen for some time since the player's gonna notice. The background also typically shouldn't move at the same speed of the player, as that removes the illusion of depth. Overall, the design is plain and basic, with a couple tinges of more detailed design. SyncThe sync in this level is passable at best. The gameplay switches match the music, but the gameplay itself feels more disconnected from the song, which mess with the player's overall experience. The design also doesn't have many pulses or other movement to assist the sync, which should be the case since it makes the level and the song feel more connected, which can help a player's experience with the level. Overall: NEEDS IMPROVEMENTOverall, I found a lot of things that could be improved upon. The gameplay was riddled with a lack of polish, the design was disconnected and uninteresting, and overall the level wasn't very interesting, which is why I gave it the rating I did. If you improve upon these things and practice a little more, then I think you'll have a shot at being an alright creator.
