if you don't like it then don't reply. looking for opinions from people that like the genre. don't have to listen to it 24/7 though. only listening to it when playing gd is fine by me
i make this thread because i'm a little anxious about a song i just made. it's been a while since i've used fl studio and i'm worried it'll fall flat. so, for future reference, what do you guys like about things like dubstep, some house, or whatever tickles your fancy that experiments with wubs? do you look for more melodic stuff? more hard-hitting, club-type stuff? a mix of the two? something less extreme? a lot of bass? throwing out a few example songs that tickle your fancy (gd, monstercat or otherwise) would also be appreciated.

Depends on the genre but generally I like high intensity faster paced songs. With house my preferred genre is big room house. Basically the sort of stuff you’d hear at a rave if that genre pops up. With dubstep I prefer very hard bass drops and an overall aggressive tone. I’m not a fan of slow sorta grindy sounding dubstep. Deathstep is pretty much perfect and you can listen to 99% of the songs that Code: Pandorum has to offer if you need examples of how this is done.

aaaaah this ill like
generally i love me a good electro house song or something in that stroke, if you listen to songs like Easy by Tritonal or - as generic as it may be - songs like Until You Were Gone by The Chainsmokers and Tritonal, or blahblahblah, generally if it has a airy synth with tons of voices and a good melody ill catch onto it
other than that i really like songs with drums that hit hard, a lot of KSHMR's stuff has that, the latest one is prolly Magic, which has a good drop that is super danceable, due to the fact that the drums hit hard and play well along with the construct of the drop. I also like the stops in midst of the drop, i dunno why but something about that catches my attention very quickly
i also enjoy a lot of martin garrix's stuff and avicii, most of Garrix's stuff i tend to like, the songs can be simple yet really good, if you for example take a look at the drop in Burn Out, it's not TOO complex yet it's mixed in such a way that it sounds good
if you need to take a look at my tastes, just check out my playlist:
that's mostly EDM and very little rock, I have other lists for other genres, check my profile or toss me a DM and ill get them linked for you

Variety and when there's actually some sort of melody because some dubstep themes tend to be repetitive or chaotic.

Don't be so self conscious about your songs, after all everyone started somewhere. Just go with what you like I personally like dubstep songs that create a melody with the basses the most. This is a good example: m.soundcloud.com/getterofficial/wtfMake sure that there is enough repetition to make it catchy but not boring.
