There really is nothing to say besides to about everyone here because a ton of us have ToS accounts. There's not a whole lot more to say besides that. alright jeeez, buzzkiller also there IS alot to say about it, like why did this happen? or better yet, how did the game even survive for so long without someone ever digging into it like so? True, but are there answers for those questions that any of us could actually deduce from how little we actually know about the situation at hand? We know SO little about this because all we know is that our data was breached, and that someone reported what happened. We have no clue who caused this data breach, and we probably never will anyways, so the first question is simply almost impossible to answer without making inaccurate speculations about the hacker themselves, but we can all assume that the person responsible for the breach wanted data obviously. And to answer the second question, there is no answer. Town of Salem's security has more than likely been the same for a while. It's probably just that nobody had figured out how to mine data from the website until now, or that it was just luck. I was not very creative when I made that post because I thought that all people would do is say that they felt bad for the people with ToS accounts lol. |

One of the hackers came out with this recently: www.reddit.com/r/TownofSalemgame/comments/acdnsc/data_breach_what_actually_happened_edited/TL;DR - The hackers are basically trying to teach a lesson to people to "not reuse passwords", despite the fact that this dude OPENLY ADMITTED TO SELLING PEOPLE'S INFORMATION AND EVEN PREVIOUSLY SHOWED IMAGES OF PEOPLE'S PERSONAL INFO IN THE POST. And the reddit mods are seriously letting him keep this message up (multiple mods commented on this post). Other people were to blame too but just read the post, it explains it better than I can. |
