having actually participated in a national spelling bee about 5 years ago i fucked up my spot in the finals by misspelling "artisanal" so ever since then i've found it immensely annoying to spell the word out for people
if we're talking words that are annoying without context "hors d'oeuvres" took longer than usual to learn and is stupid as hell. also "maneuver" spelled the british way ("manoeuver") is a very large ew.

I used to type the words "significantly" and "separate" wrong. Thankfully I stopped doing that mistake.
