Minecraft is a really good game and I've played it for years, however these days I don't stick for very long in singleplayer and there aren't a lot of multiplayer servers like there used to be (these days many servers focus on mini-games, and I mostly was joining either regular survival or freebuild servers). The new update is also pretty cool, however the main problem is that the game became more laggy as it's being updated.
The game also became pretty controversial with updates, where people were complaining a lot about updates such as Beta 1.8 (hunger system and alchemy/enchating that was about to come out), 1.3.1 (some sort of server-side singleplayer that caused annoying lag on singleplayer) and 1.9 (the combat system overhaul). 1.9 is probably where it broke, because people were complaining that the new mechanics will completely destroy PVP servers. But at least it had some good features in next updates like the new crafting system (freaking finally) or the ocean overhaul.
I think people dislike or meme around Minecraft for reasons like these: - Memes in the game that are probably overdone (like the song parodies, etc.) - Microsoft purchasing Mojang (some people think that it was just a silly move to get some money) - New combat mechanics (I think it'd be cool if there was a gamerule to change combat mechanics) - Cheaters or toxic people on servers. Cheating has been a big problem on servers, and when I've played some PVP or minigames even like 1-2 years ago, I had to deal with noobs using killauras to attack other players from a 10 block distance. - Mojang's new EULA that killed Bukkit (these days there are other clients like Spigot, but after Bukkit got taken down, servers had a tough time for some time).
I think however that 1.13 brought up some hype, so maybe the game will regain a bit of its popularity. I just wish the Bedrock version was more expanded and it had some sort of mod API, because it isn't as horribly optimized, but the versions are way more limited than the Java one.

minecraft is good
i remember playing this game from the update 0.12 lol (PE)
i used to play a lot in servers, mostly playing survival games or build battle, or sometimes micro battles and one in the chamber, all classic games.
i remember being like a somehow "good" player in survival games with a lot of wins
but due to the xbox live rules of playing in the better together update, i kinda stopped playing servers, not only that but due to the player count its actually too laggy
also due to updates i cant seem to even open a world because of lag
now i only play minecraft when theres literally no hope in my internet

I've liked Minecraft significantly less after 1.9, mostly because I feel that the new combat system is clunky and difficult to use. Correctly timing a swing in a dark cave with spiders, skeletons and zombies attacking you is incredibly difficult, and an incorrectly timed swing deals next to no damage/knockback.
In regards to its community, I've only found people that are unable to play cooperative games. Sure, there's the occasional spammer, but what I find most annoying is that people are unwilling/unable to cooperate in a game designed for a team to play. For example, the Hypixel Zombies game is practically impossible to beat if you don't join with a party of at least 3 friends simply because the randoms use vastly inferior strategies and don't respond to any attempts to communicate through chat. The story is similar with other games like Hypixel's Creeper Attack and oc.tc's Capture The Flag (although less because the server was less well-known). In contrast, in a game like Don't Starve Together, I've experienced two extremely complicated events (The Forge and The Gorge) where randoms were incredibly reliable regardless of their initial skill level. Everyone starts off new to the event, and having others who are willing to help and work together is extremely fun.
Of course, that means in singleplayer content like Survival Games or Skywars, these problems don't occur. I just don't find those games as fun as cooperative games though.

Minecraft's pretty fun, it's nice comboing a stacked kid in cakewars and then spamming kys, ez, trash, and L until you get muted.

Once i accused a kid of being a furry the whole game and he got mad and it was funny lol like to finesse furries everywhere Ew that furry let's list out everything dumb he did in the two games I played with him: - Said your aim was bad because he cleaned you twice - Thought he was the best because he killed me after 3v1ing and abusing respawn since I didn't have warrior kit - Furry skin - Rushed someone's cake and complained about getting 2v1ed - Tries to strafe but can't aim so he just runs in circles and gets mad - Celebrated the tragic death of your pet Toshino - Mistook me for an egirl - Is a furry

Yeah I used to play it a lot but just got bored of it; those were really good times tho, so I don't think it's a bad game, especially if you play it on your own server with friends.

Minecraft isn't really bad but like I like breath of the wild's concept of survival more so I just kind of abandoned the game.

I love vanilla Minecraft. Creating, especially on car trips, helps pass the time. I barely interact with servers and all (confined to PE) so I don't have problems. I'm mostly dealing with people who just are super salty over a loss and just kill you in the lobby (thanks, Lifeboat. Not) when I even touch a server. I don't like the newer updates, but I'm really thankful that they added stained glass at least in PE.

It's a fun game. I've played it ever since 2012 (first game I ever downloaded) and mostly played multiplayer with friends until 2016 when I started on servers. I quit playing LBSG servers in 2017 but I'm able to again.
It lags a lot on my tablet but the ocean update thingy is awesome. (I mean, there are tridents now... come on)

I bought Minecraft in 2014 during the 1.7-1.8 era. I love it. It's a great game, but I feel it has been going downhill. Microsoft is now trying to make Bedrock Edition the main version of the game. They've also added a Minecraft Store. They're just trying to make as much money as possible at this point. Also, the 1.9 update SUCKED. The new combat mechanics are shit.
I almost exclusively play modded Minecraft nowadays.

it's my freaking introduction into broader gaming as a whole that's sounds lame but the countless hours over at friends houses making a superflat tnt world and digging underground and shooting flame bows at each other is something i will always cherish nostalgia aside it's a great game, that promotes creativity and problem-solving i agree the microsoft thing sucked but ya know however i haven't played it in years, thanks for reminding me to go back

I got Minecraft in summer 2012 and until about 2016, I used to play it a lot. I don't play it as often anymore, but I still think it's an amazing game. There is a HUGE amount of different things to do in the game. You can literally create whatever you want. There's a reason Minecraft is the second-best-selling video game EVER (only behind Tetris lol) I played Minecraft a lot for over 4 years, which is a lot more than I could say for any other game. I got tired of GD less than 2 years after getting into it.
You can even build an actual programmable computer inside Minecraft. How many other games can you say that about?
