"Running in the 90s is the new way I like to be I'm just running in the 90s Come on baby, run to me" This is probably the most catchy "meme" song I've ever heard in my life. The lyrics are stuck in my head.

Frank Ocean - Oldie (2012)
How many cars can I buy 'til I run out of drive? How much drive can I have 'til I run out of road? How much road can they pave 'til I run out of land? How much land can there be until I run in the ocean? You niggas go with the motions and all the plans Sea I was never into the beaches and all the sands See, I was in the woods with flowers, rainbows and posies Falling outta my pocket, but ya'll want to know if I swam to cool down How much cooler can I get until I run out of fans? How many fans can I have until they turn on the AC? If the AC blows, well then I'm TNT, I'm gone

“Hello darkness, my old friend I’ve come to talk with you again”
For real, though, one of my favorite lyrics in a song is “It’s not my fault if in God’s Plan, he made the Devil so much stronger than a man!” from The Hunchback of Norte Dame’s Hellfire. It gives some insight into Frollo’s character like the rest of the song, and it manages to be a simple yet poetic way of describing his struggle.

I have a lot. "A girl should know her etiquetteAlas, alackPropriety demands we walk a narrow trackWhen fellas used to blink at meI'd freeze 'em and they'd shrink at meBut now when fellas wink at meI wink at them right back!"- I Don't Care, Judy Garland A seemingly feminist lyric that I'm fine with since it was before the equal pay act and you have to admit it's a witty verse. Also it reminds me of Christmas at my grandma's house when I was younger so it has nostalgic ties. "Stayin' still, eyes closedLet the world just pass me byPain pills, nice clothesIf I fall I think I’ll flyTouch me, MidasMake me part of your designNone to guide usI feel fear for the very last time"- My Ordinary Life, TheLivingTombstone I love this verse so much for some reason and I think the way it's said in the song makes it infinitely better. "I love you and I hate you and I'm losing my mindAnd you tell me all the time that this will pass and that I'm gonna be fineWe're such a mess together, you make me lose my temper"- Using You, Mars Argo Probably my favorite on here. This verse is sung happily in the song which is juxtaposed by the cynicism behind it that even translates to the life of the singer and it's honestly too great for me. Hits a little close to home, too. "Well mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongue You should've raised a baby girl, I should've been a better son If you could coddle the infection, they can amputate at once You should've been, I could have been a better son"... "She said, 'You ain't no son of mineFor what you've done, they're gonna findA place for you and just you mind your manners when you goAnd when you go, don't return to me, my love'"- Mama, My Chemical Romance A lot of people interpreted this in their own ways but I think the most convincing one is about homophobia. It's really just a great pair and I especially like how it's written. "And it just doesn't seem right, was it really your time? Are we dreaming? We'll never let go of youWish you were here, but it's becoming clearThat Earth's just not the place for an angel like you"- Amelia, Tonight Alive This song was about a girl named Amelia who went to the lead singer's high school and passed away, and this just perfectly conveys that feeling of loss to me. "I'm a scholar and a gentlemanAnd I usually don't fall when I try to standI lost a bet to a guy in a Chiffon skirtBut I make these high heels workI've told you time and time againI'm not as think as you drunk I amAnd we all fell down when the sun came upI think we've had enough"- Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time, Panic! at the Disco Just the comic relief here. I love this so much and my favorite part is at the end where he says "I think we've had enough" even after all the stuff he did in the song. "I know it's chemicals that make me cling to youAnd I need a miracle to get away from youI know it's chemicalsand I need a miracleAnd I'm not spiritualBut please stay'Cause I think you're a saint and I think you're an angel"- St. Patrick, PVRIS This has resonated with me for so long because of how it seems like a cry for help in the song but is sung like very cheerily and upbeat. Sinister undertones are my favorite. "The moment I saw him smileI knew he was just my styleMy only regret is we've never metThough I dream of him all the while"- The Boy Next Door, Stacey Kent Yes this song was originally by Judy Garland but I like this cover more. This is the epitome of me_irl here, like I do this so much and it's just like welp. It's nicely written, too. "Not in it for the money, just in it for the thrillLiving in the moment, paying for the killGolden grill of sadness, mid-life wasted youthAlways ends up like this, always gonna lose"- Dazzle, Oh Wonder A song about gambling and just life in general. Every one of Oh Wonder's songs is like an existential crisis but this has to be my favorite lyric from them ever. It's just so pessimistic and kind of uncanny that I love it. "So if the answer is noCan I change your mind?"... "So if I had a chanceWould you let me know?"- Change Your Mind, The Killers Again, it's like a me_irl thing. I really do enjoy this line because of how short and simple it is and still feels like a whole song. Really nicely written. Apologies for the wall of text.
