I don' t think it's "too full of exceptions", it's just a very flexible language for me. English was extremely easy to learn for me, and I had always liked that if your mind went blank on a certain formulation or something, you could always substitute it for something else. Admittedly, there are a few awkward things, with words having several right ways to spell them and especially American and British english and whatnot, but I don't think it's "too full of exceptions" by any means.

Wait 'till you learn German I've actually been studying German for a short time, and so far I don't think it's any worse... I mean Octopus has 3 correct plurals, Octopi, Octopuses and Octopodes (pronounced ock-top-uh-deez) It's right I guess. It's just natural for me. Now British English pisses me off. Spellin' shit with s instead of z adding random u's and saying shit like "gareage" and "zed" and shit. Like get your act together. You guys are supposed to be the classy ones but I guess not. There is no such spelling as 'gareage', not sure where you got that from. That is how british people pronounce garage

I love English, and while it may seem difficult, I love it the way it is. The silent letters just add to the art to me

Ikr, look at the word Colonial ..Colonial is pronounced exactly like it's spelt, unless you thought it was something like "co-lawn-ial". "Colonel" is the weird one that I will forever intentionally pronounce incorrectly.

I'm lazy so I say it as colonel.

English is one of the few Romance languages that excludes accent marks over letters. English is not a Romance language. It's actually a Germanic language, more closely related to things like German, Dutch, and Icelandic. It has, however, borrowed a sh*tton of vocabulary from Latin and French because of the Norman Conquest.

I'm just going to say this: I recall there was a video on Yahoo talking about the new words added into the English Language, but it was like 1-2 years ago. It mentioned how English was a "fluid" language. "Fluid" as in, despite many tenses, is rather low-level degree of difficulty and new words can be added with the right amount of approval. - HELL! They made an EMOJI the word of the year for 2015 (maybe)!

"I before E, except after C" Meanwhile we have words like weird, beige, heist, leisure, and seize... There's actually more to that "rule", at least from what I read about. :/ "...or when sounded like 'a' in 'neighbour',"That rules out "beige", and other words like "deity" and "reign". "...or when sounded like 'i' in 'Einstein',"This one rules out "heist", and other words like "seismic" and "height". "...but when 'c' sounds like 'sh', use i before e."This wasn't in any of your examples, but it covers words like "ancient" and "efficient" which one might think have "ei" because of "except after c". These extra rules catch a lot more words, but not ones like "leisure" or "seize", which you pointed out. I think in general it's just better not to try to create/follow general rules for spelling when there are probably hundreds of exceptions lying around.
