Hello everybody! Thetoxicpig here, finally with a new interview and first cast! This time it is a well known creator who planted his GD roots long ago, Glittershroom! If you don’t know Glittershroom, here are a few notable achievements:
-partner of the beloved duo of Viprin and Glittershroom, coined as “Vipshroom”
-member of the team who built the original Supersonic and Ultrasonic
-builder of popular demons Insomnia, Pyromaniac, and Figures
Now, as this interview is quite long, I’m splitting it in two spoilers, one related to the game and one related to miscellaneous facts about Glitter’s life. This is one of the rare times he opens up to the community, so sit back and read! (and also for me, who had to transcribe it without copy+paste a painful 3 times xp)
(Note: some contents of the interview have been altered, mostly grammar but also a few questions Glitter didn’t answer. Some information may also be outdated, as this interview was taken 2 months ago).
ABOUT THE GAME
Interviewer: First and foremost I want to ask you if there is anything you want to discuss in this interview relating to the game. I have a set of questions here, but I don't like following the script 8)
Shoutouts, current state of the game, drama...almost anything is fine
Glittershroom: All fine, nothing in my mind to talk about xd.
Roll in the Qs.
I: We’ll start easy: when did you start playing? How did you get into GD?
G: I started in 1.5, can’t remember how many years ago it was. I got into GD by my friend’s recommendation.
I: What did you most enjoy about the game when you started? Any figures you look up to in the community?
G: Well at first the game felt like any other mobile fame I’d play: Flappy Bird, Subway Surfers, etc. Just to pass time and then I’d forget them in a few weeks. But when i found out that GD had a level editor, I got in love with this game and been playing it ever since. As for the figures, I really admire Funnygame's and Serponge's creativity and their way of building structures into the game I never thought was possible.
I: Kind of in tie with the previous questions, but who are your favorite creators? Favorite level? Difficult question I know.
G: Serponge, Funnygame, Gboy's levels were also very cool. Favourite levels are probably Dem travel and UpCity (by Serponge, not out yet). Oh also Evasium's Crackdown draft is a good one.
I: What is your favorite level that you created? Mine is Electrodrome because it was one of the first online demons I beat.
G: Hmm. I really like most of my production but all-time favourites are probably Blitz Vortex, Inflection, and Infernum. Sad thing is that i put a lot of work into those maps and i think they turned out great, but they are one of my least downloaded maps at the moment
I: Surely when you've been creating for this long, it gets boring or tedious? I’ll have to check out Infernum soon.
G: Of course. I was burned out for the whole 2.0 era. That was the first time I felt burned out and it was horrible. I wanted to build but I had no inspiration and motivation. It was a strange feeling really.
I: Has 2.1 revived some inspiration? You seemed a bit discontent with how Robtop was treating the update.
G: Yes it has revived a lot. The new content has been amazing so far. Yes I felt disappointed by Robtop because he kept saying empty promises all the time but now that the update is finally here and Robtop said 2.2 will be much smaller, I really don't have anything to complain about anymore.
I: That's good; we need more veteran players and creators. Have you encountered any nasty bugs in 2.1?
G: Yes, just now when I'm building a new level and I use a start position and playtest the level, the game freezes for a second. It makes building much slower because I have to struggle with that bug whenever I want to test the gameplay, etc.
I: Have you gotten used to the new editor?
G: Not really. The rotate trigger is very annoying to use (I know there's a shortcut with it) and the new blocks and their lines are also annoying to place and make the design match.
I: The new blocks DO seem complicated. Are there any secret projects we should be aware of? More Vipshroom? 8)
G: Vipshroom isn't dead also i have a ~4-5min (demon) level coming and it's already half done.
I: How do you fare as a player? Do you think you've improved in your ~3 years of playing? What's your hardest demon? And Vipshroom hype
G: I have obviously improved a creator but not as a player really. My hardest demon is still something like toe v2 or xstep v2. Mobile is keeping me handicapped xd but I don't care for beating levels; all I want to do is to create.
I: Now going a bit outside the game: where do you find the best place to be in the GD community? Forums, discord, youtube, twitter, etc. ?
G: I'm not really into all the community thing. Sometimes I like to visit the forums though. I'm pretty much isolated from the community and the only people I talk to about GD is my close gd friends in whatsapp.
And we never even talk about GD there it's just memes and irl stuff.
I: This kind of kills my next question but I'll ask it anyways: What is your most favorite and least favorite aspect of this community?
G: Favourite aspect: The relationships. And now I'll start a small rant. My absolute least favourite aspect in the GD community is the way some people treat creators. If I upload a different level from my usual style, people start saying the map's horrible, "Why are you so famous your levels suck, I’m disappointed this isn't a good level at all" etc. I'm not creating these levels for you. I'm creating for fun and trying out new things which keeps me from being burned out. I mean I do appreciate constructive criticism but usually all the negative feedback is unjustified and cruel.
That's why I don't like to be around the community anymore. Because creators get placed in a competition and everyone argues about who is better or why is this guy getting featured levels. I just like to create for myself, not for others.
I: That’s quite understandable. Why do you think that is? Age, love of competition?
G: No idea really. Probs the fanboy-ism and the pure hate to others’ success.
I: Do any of your irl friends play this game (the friend who introduced you to it perhaps)?
G: Not anymore. Nobody.
I: That's quite sad, although it seems to be the situation for most everybody nowadays.
Do you have any plans for your Youtube channel, Mushroomy43? Should I include the link in this feature?
G: Sure you can link it. I just upload some previews there very rarely though. Everyplay is very laggy.
I don't recommend subbing.

PERSONAL QUESTIONS
I:Ok, now here are some personal questions about your life. Feel free to not answer these; the ones you don't answer won't be included in this article.
What is your name? Grade?
G: I'm doing the first year in upper secondary school.
I: Where do you live? Saying the country only is fine.
G: I live in Finland very near Helsinki
I: What do you like to do besides GD? Any notable hobbies?
G: I like to exercise (not hardcore tho) and being with friends
I: For clarification for US readers, the first year in upper secondary school is what age?
G: Well I'd say upper secondary school is kinda like high school. It's an optional 3-year school where you can pass matriculation examination.
I: How old are you? Can you speak a foreign language besides English and Finnish (learning an
other one in school, perhaps?)
G: I'm soon 17 years (February 8th). I speak fluent Finnish and English but I also study Swedish and French in school
I: Favorite food? Color? The basic icebreakers, really.
G: Pizza, Mexican food, chicken-avocado salads.
As for colors, red and blue
I: Have you traveled? If so, where is your favorite place where you have been?
G: Paris with my class definitely.
I: I think we're close to wrapping up, one more question before I go.
Do you see yourself quitting the game anytime soon?
G: Depends on the update flow. If Robtop stops with this game I will too. But at the moment I'm not planning to.
I: Thank you for your time!
G: Ok and thanks from having me
