Not sure why people looked at them to blame in the first place. Coincidences can be misleading. One user on the thread announcing the petition within newgrounds encouraged users to spam-flag Geometry Dash on steam, and only a few days after, as the petition was gaining more and more signers, it went down. If you don't have a good understanding of how flagging on steam works, you could assume that it got taken down because it was flagged by a ton of Newgrounds users. |

The only reason why the petition even existed is because of us. The community. Children uploading their favorite songs on NG thinking that they won't scout and remove the song from NG. Someone should really educate these people on the audio reviewing process on NG, otherwise more people will upload unoriginal work onto the website.
When I saw the NG tweets' replies, I cringed. There were some people that claimed that NG would've been unknown without GD partnering with it. But these people have absolutely no idea what the hell Newgrounds is in the slightest. The website is probably older than some of them who tweeted those things, which makes me cringe even further. Some people pointed fingers at NG, especially at a certain audio mod that I will not say here, but imagine yourself in their shoes. Your favorite online web portal, being jeopardized thanks to a music-based mobile game, what would you do? Stand around and wait until your favorite website disappears into oblivion thanks to copyright infringement? No, of course not. You would stand up and voice your opinion against these asshats. And in this case, those asshats are us. |
