I'm going to cover multiple segments in the level. As your progress bar does show up, i will use segments based on percentage! (example: 45%-67%)
- Overall - At first sight, this level is outstanding. The first to the last segment is just amazing. The visuals are very cool, and this effect level does not look that hard, yet gives the player a challenging gameplay. But being an easier level, the player is allowed to see the entire level, with it's outstanding effects. They're beautifull, and extremely original. The song is original. I'd have never heard of it before (or as long as i can remember).
I will make this review extremely detailed, giving my opinion, a comparishion to other levels, and so on.
The design is outstanding! You've used extremely detailed design to create the maximum out of the song usage, and the cyborg-y level vibe (seeing the BG effect). Going further in this segment, i noticed how you even used 1.0 decoration blocks... Woah! So nice to see this come back within this amazing level!
First of all, i see the effect move up and down smoothly, rather than standing on one place using a 'Follow player on X' and that's it. Second of all, i've NEVER seen this effect before. It's a really cool cyborg-sort off effect, which fits in with the level name AND song. It flashes nice and smoothly, with amazing colour combination. Extraodinary!
After the effect fades in, there is a moment the effect flashes and brights up. But there is a little beat a microsecond before the start of the cube. I would've made the brighting flash right there, if you know what i mean...
The sides of the level, being fading-black sides, makes the level really cool-looking. Especially how the cube interacts with these border, yet the borders do not more at all.
One bad thing about the decoration, is that you can see the next part already, with the bright white colours.
The sync is decent. It's not the perfect sync, but in my feeling the video has a small delay, so i'd guess it's fine.
The ball is just a standard challenging ball gameplay. It's the sort of gameplay where it's very easy, yet entertaining, and requiring the attention to keep focussed on the level, meaning the player can observe the amazingness of this level.
The design is kind of bland. It's just white, but i cannot complain; Seeing the gameplay and the back-ground effects, this is just outstanding, too. Pure white gameplay-design is just cool here. With the bright flashes, it gives you no other choice but to use this design.
Not only that this is greatly synced, but it gives the player time to react. It's very fun, kinda unoriginal, predictable gameplay. People like me love predictable gameplay. By that, it's still challenging.
The only problem, is the black-faded portals. Some people using that low-detail mode Ingame, have a hard time seeing what these portals bring to them. Try to get something like a glowy glow behind the portals, so the player has a little vision of what kind of portals the player is about to enter.
This is the best part. It syncs perfectly with the music. By that, it's not buggy at all. Though there are lots of parts where you just 'hold', this still creates an epic gameplay at last, which goes trough this whole part.
The quick transitions make the level less boring, and make the player more paying attention to what is coming in front of him... Awesome!
Approved moving to Featured Levels Nice level! I really like it!
