Hello, so I'm fairly new to the GD community and I apologize if this has been answered before but I cannot seem to find it, how exactly does rating work on GD? I've been pretty interested in the level editor and been trying to improve my skills with it. I am just curious on how exactly the rating system works here? How often do levels actually get rated? Are they only rated by RopTop himself or does he have a staff team in-game rating levels? Is it always the same popular creators getting rated and featured levels or do new creators also get at least a rate on their level? Once again sorry if this has been answered before but I couldn't find any threads on it, thanks

Robtop rates the levels himself, no staff team. Robtop is trying to rate unknown creators but right now it's mostly famous creators. There's alot of rated levels daily too.

RobTop rates levels himself. Right now unknown creators aren't getting noticed because they are unknown and RobTop hasn't seen their levels. Some famous creators are level mods, that can send levels to RobTop so unknown creators get noticed.

Robtop rates and features levels himself and he gets suggestions from "level mods". A level mod usually is a very famous creator (there are exceptions) which goes around and sends levels to RobTop and suggest them being featured/rated and how many stars they deserve. You can get your level sent by a mod by looking on one of their streams or sending your level in some kind of level request form.
It's usually 2-10 levels being rated every day, but there are hundreds, maybe even thousands of levels which mods have sent. The reason it takes so long time for Rob to rate them is because of update 2.1 and I also believe he said that he doesn't want to rate all the levels at once because he wants to showcase all the levels. Famous creators does usually get more features, especially recently.

I'm in agreement with the points said by people above, but I thought I'd give my two cents in about ratings. NOTE: if anybody doesn't agree with me try not to salt on me or make a psuedo smart comment. Just tell me what you think was wrong. Thanks But in my opinion... The rating system doesn't work in the way that no unknown creator who doesn't have connections will ever get a featured level. Call me pessimistic, but to be honest, if a creator had no connections with mods, they will never get a featured level, or a rated level, especially in this day where creators who are famous get more and more creator points. Look, I don't mean to rain on your parade or something, if you want to create you should, but let's be realistic. If you have no connections with the famous people in this game, robtop will never rate your level. With that, I wish you all the best in your new endeavours in GD - no matter what, just push forward and try to defy the odds

Just visit some level request streams and if your level is good it will get sent no matter if the mod knows you or not. I'm not friends with any mod and have 2 featured levels.

DISCLAIMER: I do have featured/rated levels, my point of view may be biased! Also a lot of my information comes from GD mods who may also be biased! No hate! Ok the rating system is really weird I'd say. According to robtop he will be redoing some parts of it in 2.1, until then we will have to continue with this bs system I guess. The system goes as a GD moderator finds a level that has not yet been rated and sends it in and determines the difficulty (I don't think robtop determines the difficulty since there have been cases where a harder 6* level was sent in as a demon and featured as a demon). Then the gd moderator suggests whether it should be rated (1 CP and usually goes relatively unnoticed) or featured (2 CP, the levels you see in the featured page.) I am not certain why some levels get featured quicker than others, but a few mods think there is a priority system where the more mods sent your levels, the faster robtop will feature them, and this may be true. If it's not, it's a system robtop wanted to add (I had asked him in a stream.) There are rumors of superior GD moderators, such as Viprin, but that's considered a rumor/assumption and less of a theory. If a level was to get featured, how close it would be to first place is determined by a score given by only Robtop. The higher the score, the closer it is to first place. To avoid amazing levels to stay on first place forever, all level scores go down slowly. The way robtop usually scores levels is by how "noob friendly" it is. A level that is clear, fun, relatively easy, and not very laggy (or has a working low detail mode) will get placed in first page while a fustrating empty/messy (I'm one to talk ) or otherwise non-noob friendly level would be placed deeper in the featured place where it won't have as much downloads. And lastly levels CAN be unrated if it was hacked or has a secret way. Also to note, getting a star-rated level should not be a goal. If a level is long and has some blocks that are not spammed, it is star worthy but mods are discouraged to send these. Most people can make them. A feature should always be your goal! And as someone said before, getting noticed is hard. It took me a year to get a feature/rate. However please respect the fact that famous people are usually more credited with being experienced, although lazy at times. It's messed up how famous people tend to be featured faster and tend to have faster contacts with gd mods, but if you were a mod, you would understand why famous people are seen first rather than unknown ones. Just keep working, and get involved with the community (on twitch or something) to gain friends, and maybe you might make the right friend who becomes a gd mod! TL;DR: rating is complex

I'm not friends with any mod and have 2 featured levels. that's because you're a special case xd its really hard to do so without connections with mods most of the time, and I respect you for that xdd. But in all seriousness, level request streams are good and all but since so many people are requesting their levels there is a low possibility of a creator's level getting seen or even sent in the stream itself. It gets annoying when you have to wait through multiple streams for a mod to look through your level xd just saying

True, but having connections really helps. You don't need them, but unless your level is really good you just have to hope to get lucky. Well, featured levels are supposed to be really good, so I don't see a problem. If your level does only have the chance to get rated in the case you have connections maybe it means it is not really good enough. that's because you're a special case xd its really hard to do so without connections with mods most of the time, and I respect you for that xdd. But in all seriousness, level request streams are good and all but since so many people are requesting their levels there is a low possibility of a creator's level getting seen or even sent in the stream itself. It gets annoying when you have to wait through multiple streams for a mod to look through your level xd just saying I'm pretty sure I am not a special case at all and that there are others who accomplished this. If your level is really good, it will get sent 99% sure. The amount of people in the stream does not determine whether the mod sends it or not. And of course it can get annoying to wait, but that's the way it is. I think a feature is worth it lol.
