I just tried to add an image in a thread I'm creating. Even though I gave it the link to the .svg copy I made of the image (the link was from my desktop since that's where the image is), nothing happened - the image never showed up. What do I do? (I'm on Windows btw if that will help at all)

This thread seems a bit vague..
Did you insert it as
?
This usually doesn't work. Try uploading your file to Imgur, Giphy or even Discord works.
If you did it like that, then I have no clue what's going on.

You don't link it from your computer like most other places... as Mlg7803 said, to embed pictures onto this forum you have to upload them to an image-hosting site to get a direct URL that links to them.
Make sure the URL ends in an image extension (like your .svg), usually you'll need to press "Open image in new tab" or something.

First is, you can't directly link images from your desktop. You would have to upload it onto an image-hosting site, like Imgur or TinyPic.
Second is, I don't think the forum accepts images in .svg files. You might have to convert it to another extension like .png or .jpeg
