Kind of like my other thread where I said promoting members would be good.
Anyway, this would be a good idea. The milestones can be 100 posts, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, and 5000. This would encourage more activity for people so that they could heighten their rank on here, but you also said you would be more strict with post farming, so that would lead to lots of posts and lots of positive contribution. Also, you could also lower the ranks of people who brag about having a better rank than someone else.

"Also, you could also lower the ranks of people who brag about having a better rank than someone else."
that is exactly why i don't want it, plus it encourages spam. it'd give us more work to handle, plus arguments and crap.

This would encourage more activity More activity isn't necessarily a good thing. Things like purposely spamming to get a higher post rank can classify as "more activity", which is not a good thing. for people so that they could heighten their rank on here, but you also said you would be more strict with post farming, so that would lead to lots of posts and lots of positive contribution. This might sound like a stupid point, but people might express their "superiority" with their higher post rank, therefore giving other people an incentive to spam to get the higher post rank. Also, you could also lower the ranks of people who brag about having a better rank than someone else. As Lockstep said, this is more unnecessary work for the staff. It should be common sense not to purposely spam to get "post ranks".

I think the real problem is that people themselves are not interested for the game. And there is nothing interesting happening to talk about. There are no good topics to discuss. That's why people aren't very active, because they think that.

Again, nobody actually shit posted for the sole purpose of bringing their rank up (if they did maybe 1 extra post to go from like 999 posts to 1000 which they'd do regardless if there was ranks or not) nor has anyone ever bragged about it (and if they have... well God help them) Post ranks encourage spam no more than showing the amount of posts a user has itself.

Has no one actually considered to just remove/make the spam posts not count in the total post count?

Has no one actually considered to just remove/make the spam posts not count in the total post count? That's gonna be hard/impossible. Either staff has to monitor everyone's posts to find individual ones that count as spam, or they have to create a bot to do it for them, and even then I doubt there's a way for proboards to do that
